We're Proud To Be Accessible For All
We’re committed to making our site as accessible and inclusive as possible for all visitors. Around 70% of our gardens and garden paths are accessible to wheelchair users, providing plenty of opportunity to enjoy the natural beauty of the grounds.
The castle itself, despite its medieval origins, has been thoughtfully adapted to accommodate wheelchair users and less mobile visitors. All state rooms and the undercroft can be accessed via alternative routes. However, please note that the Chapel and bedrooms are only reachable by stairs.
Our Pre-loved Bookshop, gallery, and café are fully accessible, offering comfortable and enjoyable spaces for everyone to relax and explore.
Please note that due to the historic nature of the building, we cannot accommodate mobility scooters or push chairs / prams inside the castle. The access to the castle also includes a slope that is quite steep.
We accept official Carer ID cards, such as those issued by your local council, the Access Card scheme and The NHS.
