Demonstration of how to paint a still life with Nicky Philipps

At 11am on Thursday 18th June join renowned artist Nicky Philipps as she walks you through the various stages of painting a still life. She will explain the initial set up, how to plan the best use of light, including how it will dictate shadows to create form, and discuss composition. Nicky will have up to 2 hours to paint, in oil, starting with the mid tones, adding in the darks and then building up the lights. As the painting progresses, she will explain her use of colour and how to mix the right shades. She will welcome questions on composition, brushes, paint, mediums, canvas, and her own technique throughout the demonstration.
