Picton Castle and Gardens

Less Abled Visitors

Facilities for less abled visitors

  • Approximately 70% of the gardens and garden paths are accessible to wheelchair users.
  • The castle and castle tours are accessible to wheelchair users and less able visitors. As a medieval building there are some constraints on access due to the staircases but alternative access routes are available.
  • The Pre-loved Bookshop, gallery and cafe are all fully accessible.
  • There are all-terrain wheelchairs available on site for your use, (free). Please enquire at the Ticket Box on arrival (please be aware on busy days these are available on first come basis).
  • There are two disabled toilets on site – near the courtyard entrance and near the walled garden.
  • There is extensive disabled parking available in the main car park
  • Registered carers have free access when visiting with the person they care for but you must show careers ID. At present we accept a wide range of proof including carer ID cards, doctors letters, DWP letters. We will be phasing this out and from the 1st April 2025 we will only accept carer ID cards such as those available from your local council, the Access scheme or the NHS. We do not accept Blue Badges.
