Visit Picton Castle for Free – Heritage Open Doors Weekend

On Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th September 2025, Picton Castle Gardens will throw open its gates for a very special free open weekend, welcoming visitors from across Pembrokeshire and beyond.

This unique event is part of Cadw’s Heritage Open Doors programme, a nationwide celebration of Welsh history, culture, and heritage.

Nestled in the heart of Pembrokeshire, Picton Castle & Gardens is one of the county’s most treasured attractions, offering a blend of historic architecture and beautiful RHS grounds. The open weekend is the perfect opportunity for local residents and visitors alike to explore this stunning site without charge.

As part of the event, special tours will be focusing on the important charitable work carried out by the Picton Castle Trust.

These tours are separate from the usual behind-the-scenes experiences and will shine a light on how the castle supports heritage, education, and community initiatives.

Tours will take place at 2pm, 2:30pm, 3pm, and 3:30pm each day, with capacity limited to around 25 people on a first-come, first-served basis.

The gardens will be open to all, offering the chance to stroll through woodland walks, enjoy the colourful borders, and experience the tranquil atmosphere that makes Picton Castle one of Pembrokeshire’s best days out.

Visitors can also enjoy a delicious meal or light refreshment at Maria’s Restaurant, which will be open as normal throughout the weekend.

Whether you are a Pembrokeshire local, a heritage enthusiast, or simply looking for a family-friendly day out, the Heritage Open Doors weekend at Picton Castle Gardens is an event not to be missed.
